CPD: Supporting Disabled Learners on their Higher Education Journey

Are you a teacher, adviser, practitioner or parent/carer supporting learners on their HE journey?
Go Higher West Yorkshire (GHWY), in partnership with University of Leeds Disability Services, are holding an online CPD session to update you on the key information disabled learners need to empower them when considering applying to Higher Education.
Carly Miller, Disability Coordinator at University of Leeds will update delegates on the key information disabled learners need to make informed choices when applying to Higher Education, such as through the UCAS system, student finance system, and the types of support HE providers can give.
We will also hear from GHWY colleagues about our brand new Disabled E-learning Resource, and the Disabled Learners Transition Pack.
The session will include:
- An up to date picture of disability services in the HE sector
- Key concepts shared such as terminology across the education sector
- And myths busted such as what support is available and how it is offered by an HE provider
- Signposting to resources that can raise awareness for this underrepresented group
Target Audience – Careers, education, community professionals and parents/carers working with young people. The Disabled e-learning module is useful for all post-16 and HE staff.
