CPD: Supporting Care Experienced Learners on their Higher Education Journey
Calling all practitioners working with Care Experienced learners who are considering HE as an option!
To coincide with Care Day, GHWY are focussing this free online CPD session on Care Experienced learners, a group at risk of equality of opportunity when progressing to Higher Education. Join GHWY, and Inspiring Choices to hear more examples of how we support Care Experienced learners to progress into Higher Education.
By the end of the session you will know more about how the HE sector support Care Experienced learners, and what opportunities, resources and activities are out there specially tailored to meet the needs of these learners.
The session includes:
- The common definition of Care Experience
- Collaborative Approach for working with Care Experienced learners/ Care Leavers
- Key resources you can use to support Care Experienced learners in their HE journey
- A launch and demo of the Care Experienced Learners Transition Pack
We are joined by guest speakers Penny Garner, Outreach and Partnerships Manager and Alex Hargreaves, Outreach Coordinator from Inspiring Choices, the North Yorkshire Uni Connect. They will outline and reflect on their collaborative approach to working with Care Experienced learners and Care Leavers in their region. As well as share their new outreach opportunity for 2025, the Destinations Festival.
This session is aimed at: teachers, advisors, Virtual Schools staff, designated teachers, outreach and Uni Connect staff, and any others advising, or supporting care experienced learners.
