Collaborative Care Leaver Covenant updated for 2024-25
Go Higher West Yorkshire’s (GHWY) collaborative Care Leaver Covenant has been updated for 2024-25.
The e-resource, which was originally launched in 2017, demonstrates the ongoing commitment to care-experienced people shown by our 13 Higher Education (HE) members. Updated annually, it brings together the support, information, and top tips offered by our members in a single, easy to navigate document.
The document includes a commitment by all our members to use a common definition of ‘care experienced’. This removes one of the barriers in the HE applications process for those who have had experience of the care system, which is the confusion of trying to navigate and make sense of different definitions for access to support.
The resource also collates some of the support our 13 members offer to care-experienced students in one table. This includes information about contextual admissions and whether the HE provider acts as a guarantor, which allows people to compare offers without the need to navigate multiple websites.
In addition, the document summarises some of the benefits of studying in HE, and includes an inspiring care leaver story, updated glossary of HE terms, and a list of top tips to help individuals on their HE journey.
