Biting into Future Careers

Considering a career within the creative industry? Our Year 7, 8 and 9 Castleford Academy students learnt about the dedication, passion and drive required to make it to the top of any career and how to succeed in the future.

The BBC Bitesize roadshow, presented by BBC Radio 1xtra DJ Nick Bright brought along 3 professionals working within the creative industry to showcase how they got to the top of their career. During the sessions the panel were questioned on their roles, responsibilities, motivations and what they were like in high school with regards to aspirations and chasing dreams. Our Year 7, 8 and 9 students also had the chance to ask questions of the guests and presenter.

Our students had an in depth discussion to truly understand the dedication and commitment required to make it to the top of your profession. The sacrifices, like one of the guests only having Christmas Day off in a full calendar year, to another working until the early hours of the morning to meet big client deadlines regularly, proving being successful doesn’t come easily. After around 30 minutes plunging into the day to day lives of our guests and all the things making them and their companies tick, it was time for them to face the tough part, the students Q&A. With pretty much everything asked from “what would you be if you weren’t doing what you currently are?” to “if there is someone you could be deserted with on an island, who would it be?” … Our guests we’re well and truly grilled. With their brains working overtime our guests took their thank you and goodbyes leaving all students filled with aspiration of finding their own perfect career and positive about the future.
