Construct your Future: Go Higher West Yorkshire Kirkstall Forge construction visit

A railway station, a new housing development, a doctor’s surgery, open spaces – all part of the design project which is the Kirkstall Forge site in Leeds.

Two students from Year 12 at Immanuel College went along to find out more about the engineering opportunities available in the UK construction industry. Other career opportunities include creative advertising, civil engineering and construction management.

Vicky Sutcliffe, post 16 support officer at Immanuel College, who went along on the visit said “The trip gave the students a real insight into how many different career paths are available when building work is carried out.  The workshops on designing a building helped us understand all the planning that is involved. Finally, experiencing a tour of the building site and discovering the history behind Kirkstall Forge was really interesting.”
