HE Roadshow – rolls into town for the second year running!

Offering 2 days of free higher education advice, careers interviews and entertainment, the GHWY/NCOP HE Roadshow descended on the Ridings centre Wakefield for the second year running.

Universities and University Centres from across West Yorkshire, along with Wakefield College, Wakefield College Apprenticeships, HMRC Apprenticeships, HSBC and Children’s University, joined together in Wakefield to raise the profile of higher education.

Entertainment for the younger ones was provided by Lawrence (LTEntertainment) who demonstrated his balloon modelling and juggling skills. Lawrence himself is no stranger to higher education- a qualified accountant, he developed his love of entertaining from societies he joined at university! On the Friday, we also welcomed Dance, Acting and Musical Theatre students studying at the Mechanics Theatre, Wakefield College. The students put on several performances throughout the day to the delight of the Ridings Centre shoppers.

Across both days, around 400 visitors in total accessed information about education and training, and evaluations indicated that the event was a success. Comments included a compliment of the Leeds College of Building staff, as well as lauding the excellent information from staff and the usefulness of the event for helping young people of Wakefield decide what they want to do in the future.
