High 5 PiXL Conferences- English & Maths

On the 25th and 26th April, selected Year 11 students from St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School and Sixth Form College visited Harrogate International Convention Centre to attend the ‘Strive for 5’ PiXL conferences. Students who are currently averaging on the borderline of level 4/5 grades were selected to enhance their understanding of the exam papers and content. For example, both conferences included an exam visualiser as the PiXL professionals demonstrated strategies to break down each question and considering the allocations of the marks scheme.

Each student was provided with a workbook upon arrival, as they were encouraged to work through the tasks alongside the PiXL professionals and also fellow students from other schools. The event ran as a masterclass to improve students’ confidence and familiarity with their upcoming GCSE papers. It is hoped that this event will boost students’ grades in both English and Maths in order to improve future success rate when applying to sixth forms/colleges.
