Learn By Design’s recent visit to St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School and Sixth Form College included the ‘Science Show’ followed by three consecutive workshops with a STEM focus. The Science Show was delivered to the whole Year 9 group as an extended assembly. Students enjoyed the demonstrations as the workshop leader involved students to participate in the experiments. The positive energy of the show set the tone for the rest of the day.

After the Science Show, 90 selected students were selected to participate in the ‘Tomorrow’s Engineers’ workshops due to their interest and performance rates in STEM subjects. The workshops delivered an exciting energy for students, involving robot games and competitions in order to increase the positive connotations of STEM subjects. Each workshop aimed to unpack certain myths surrounding the engineering world, as it opened students’ minds to consider engineering from different perspectives.
