Leeds West Academy Students had the opportunity to explore different medical careers.
Leeds West Academy were privileged to welcome Medical Mavericks into the academy.
Medical Mavericks are a company that seek to inspire all students to make more informed decisions about their career and lifestyle choices.
They introduced our students to different careers within the medical profession, explaining that there are over 300+ career opportunities related to the medical profession.
They provided our students with first hand practical experience to help widen their prospects and encourage them to think about different careers that they can pursue.
Students in Year 9 to Year 13 had the opportunity to explore different careers by taking part in demonstrations of respiratory tests, retina scans, pulse dopplers, ultrasounds and vein scanners.
Student were even able to learn more about taking blood from an arm and key hole surgery.
They where introduced to number of careers such as Health Promotion Officer, Vascular Scientist, Medical Engineering and Nephrologist.
