QUEST Team supports under-represented groups at Bradford College

At Bradford College we are determined to ensure that everyone is able to access Higher Education opportunities. Therefore we developed The QUEST Team: a brand-new, student-friendly service that supports people to access Higher Education opportunities within Bradford College, regardless of the barriers they may face.

The QUEST Team promises, “to answer your Questions about your future in Higher Education. We’re here to help you Understand your options so you can Excel in your next steps, wherever they take you. We’ll help you find the Support needed, that Targets your individual needs.”

The QUEST Team is made up of Bradford College’s Access and Participation Officers, Eleanor Conway (pictured right) and Naweed Hussain (pictured left).
They work with schools, colleges and community groups to provide support and guidance about Higher Education opportunities.

As a fully qualified Youth Worker and Careers Advisor, Naweed is the community lead for the team. Eleanor, a qualified teacher who has spent their career teaching and working in Higher Education support, is the school and college lead for the team.

All of our support specifically targets students outlined in the Bradford College Access and Participation Plan, including Care Leavers.

If a Care Leaver is interested in finding out more about what it’s like to study a Higher Education course at Bradford College, we offer the opportunity to attend a bespoke visit to the College. We are happy to arrange a one-to-one visit for prospective students to explore the facilities, speak to the tutors and find out more about the support available.

The QUEST Team is happy to support Care Leaver students in making an application. If students choose to declare as a Care Leaver at this stage, Eleanor Conway will be in touch on behalf of the QUEST Team, as the dedicated Care Leaver contact. Students will receive information about the support on offer, from application to enrolment.

Care Leaver students may also be entitled to additional financial support throughout their studies, including an Accommodation Grant and a Care Leavers Grant (for Care Leaver and Estranged Students). The Bradford College Accommodation Grant is up to £5,500 to support accommodation for each academic year, which may also include extended cover over the holidays. Our Care Leavers grant is an additional £500 to support studies for each academic year.
