In our Employer focused session, we are joined by two professionals within the creative industry to explore different careers within the sector.

Laura SandersonGraphic Designer & Agency Co-Owner

Laura will talk us through the 16 ways that the creative industries can be broken down into sub sectors, as well as exploring her own journey to becoming a designer. This talk will cover potential progression pathways as well as giving a brief description of a typical ‘day in the life of’. Laura will finish by diving into Art is my Career, a new community interest company set up to provide schools, young people and parents with the knowledge and tools to identify the variety and diversity of roles on offer within the creative industry.

James NewardChartered Architectural Technologist

Founder of DesignDwell, a design studio specialising in low carbon architecture and bio-based construction methods. James focuses on community-led projects with a particular focus on community-led housing. James will take us on a tour of what his role entails and how he connects a variety of roles across a number of industries before talking through his academic pathway and identifying skills and characteristics that helped him identify the creative industries as the right path for him, allowing him to get paid for working on the projects he is passionate about.
