GHWY and Leeds Trinity University’s Race Institute success in Advance HE fund
Go Higher West Yorkshire (GHWY) and colleagues in Leeds Trinity University’s new Race Institute are delighted to be awarded funding through Advance HE’s competitive Collaborative Development Fund. The work comes under Advance HE’s ‘Creating a Culture of Strategic EDI Change’ theme.
The funding will be used to deliver CPD and reflective activities to support greater confidence with cultural competence for access and outreach teams, focusing on the intersectional needs of racially minoritised students in their Higher Education (HE) decision making.
Cultural competence looks to equip people to consider the impacts of their own approaches and policies, in work situations that bring together those from multiple cultures.
The funding will also look at whether this increased confidence is beneficial to access and outreach activities, in addition to paying for a part-time research assistant to analyse impact. Findings will be disseminated across the sector.
The project will run from February until June 2024, and the opportunity to participate will be offered across all GHWY member institutions. We look forward to working on this important and innovative project.
