GHWY publishes annual report for 2022-23

Find out more about Go Higher West Yorkshire’s (GHWY) major successes and upcoming projects in our latest annual report. Available to read online, it covers the academic year 2022-23.

During this period GHWY’s Uni Connect piloted an innovative attainment raising programme across five schools. Think and Go Higher! offered five in-school sessions and a campus visit to one of our 13 members. Among other things, it aimed to develop learners’ meta-cognition and study skills across all school subjects. Based on feedback, it will be refined and scaled-up for delivery in the coming year.

The past academic year also saw GHWY’s Underrepresented Groups Networks work towards various outputs. These included the development and promotion of our Disabled Learners Transition Pack, and a review of the language used in student host/ambassador job advertisements to help them appeal to a broader range of applicants.

Other key achievements over the last 12 months include the launch of a monthly podcast series, which shares information and guidance around Higher Education (HE) progression, and the development of our CPD programme, which organised 26 training opportunities that covered everything from Youth Mental Health First and Training to Mentoring. Our programme for 2023-24 will be announced soon.

In addition, the report provides updates on a number of our previous projects, including GradSkills. The West Yorkshire Combined Authority-funded programme is undertaking work to support graduates to move into their next steps after their studies.

Our work to reduce inequalities in access to, success in and progression from HE will continue throughout 2023-24. You can keep up to date with all our activities by subscribing to our free monthly e-newsletter.
