GHWY Uni Connect reports successful year for CPD programme
Go Higher West Yorkshire’s (GHWY) Uni Connect project has reported another successful year for its acclaimed CPD programme. It delivered 13 training sessions to 120 delegates between September 2023 and July 2024, covering diverse subjects including Alternative Routes into Healthcare and Supporting Disabled Learners.
Our programme aims to upskill and inform key influencers of learners who are underrepresented in Higher Education (HE), such as males on free school meals, disabled learners, and Black, Asian and Minoritised ethnic students.
The CPD delivers progressive information, advice and guidance about the application lifecycle and courses available. It also puts research into practice in relation to engaging and teaching underrepresented groups.
The sessions are run in collaboration with professionals working in the HE sector, with previous training being led by Ellie Rowley (Fair Access Programme Lead, UCAS) and West Yorkshire Combined Authority. They have also featured industry representatives from, among other organisations, KPMG and Gordons LLP.
The programme has received positive feedback, with one participant saying: “The sessions are really informative and the ability to access them virtually increases the opportunity to attend.”

CPD programme for 2024-25
Two key strategic aims for this year’s CPD programme is to collaborate even more closely with our 13 HE members to develop the best quality CPD offer we can in line with sector needs.
Over the coming weeks we will be planning with our Outreach Officer team to identify need, and will be seeking more guest speakers and academics from our membership to develop CPD sessions.
