GHWY’s HE Festival Week goes to top of the class

Over 800 people accessed information or live streamed activities during GHWYs inaugural Higher Education (HE) Festival Week.

The online event, which ran between 13-17 July, featured a wide range of activities that showed young people what HE options are available in the region. These included tips on making decisions, blogs on different subjects, information about apprenticeships, and live video streams.

GHWY’s 13 partner institutions which include three specialists, three University Centres, and a Russell Group university all contributed to the development and delivery of the Week. Highlights included a YouTube playlist from Leeds College of Building, a live discussion about alternatives to work experience from the University of Bradford, and a creative arts open day webinar from the University Centre Leeds.

Resources from the Festival Week, which were rated 9/10 for usefulness by visitors, will remain on GHWY’s website to continue to support learners.

Activity to GHWY’s website increased by over 300%, compared to the previous month, during the Week and it generated over 5,000 social media impressions. The Week also garnered positive publicity from the likes of South Leeds Life and Doing Good Leeds.
