How to support care experienced and estranged students this Christmas
A practical guide to help HE staff to support care experienced and estranged students at Christmas has been produced by the Unite Foundation and EaCES, a peer-support network by and for estranged and care experienced students.
The resource offers input on the small changes that can massively support, and be inclusive of, estranged and care experienced students during the winter period and Christmas break. It is aimed at all staff in HE, regardless of their area of expertise or job title.
Tips include being mindful of language that is being used, supporting the organisation of Student Unon-led events over the festive closure, and encouraging welfare checks on students who remain on campus.
