Refreshed Regional Skills Network

The West Yorkshire Skills Partnership, formerly the Leeds City Region Skills Network, brings together FE, HE private and voluntary providers to influence regional skills strategy and respond to the Employment and Skills Plan and regional skills priorities within this.

We are delighted that GHWY will be represented within the partnership by Jo Beaumont (Interim Associate Director Student Services, Careers, Employability and Engagement, University of Bradford), with Claire Newhouse (Director for the Centre of Apprenticeships, Work-Based Learning and Skills, Leeds Trinity University) serving as the deputy.  Both are members of the Go Higher Skills Group, and Claire is also a GHWY Board member.

Their engagement in the West Yorkshire Skills Partnership supplements Higher Education representation from Shirley Congdon, Vice Chancellor, at the University of Bradford; and Peter O’Brien, Executive Director, Yorkshire Universities and deputy Chair for the partnership.

The partnership will host a virtual skills conference on Thursday, 1 July.  The event will include an opening address from the newly elected West Yorkshire Mayor, Tracy Brabin.  Jobs creation and skills are key priorities within the Mayoral Manifesto.

Further details about the Partnership and the booking details for the conference can be found here.
