Roundtable to discuss apprenticeships for the creative sector

In partnership with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Skills for Growth Team, GHWY will host a roundtable discussion to explore apprenticeships for the creative sector.

The online event, which will be held on Tuesday, 7 December at 10am, will share insight on apprenticeship demand and information on new apprenticeship models.

The pandemic has heightened the need to look afresh at routes into the sector, to support recovery, inclusion and talent pipelines. This includes considering the needs of freelancers, recruited to undertake short-term commissions and project work and smaller organisations with limitations on capacity to support apprentices.

The nature of sector operating models calls for greater flexibility. The introduction of the new Flexi Job apprenticeship model presents a new opportunity, with apprentices able to work across a number of roles and employers. This will be rolled out from 2022 following investment from the Department for Education.

The event will include presentations from Screen Skills and Creative and Cultural Skills, both of which are actively involved in advocating for the distinct needs of the sector and supporting apprenticeship adoption.
