University Centre Leeds publishes guide for care-experienced and estranged students
Care-experienced and estranged students often face unique challenges as they start their Higher Education (HE) studies. Without proper support, these challenges can make it difficult for students to apply for, enter and remain in HE.
In recognition of these challenges, University Centre Leeds has produced a free guide that details the support its dedicated team offers to students, from the moment they start at the institution through to their graduation.
The e-resource includes clear institutional definitions of estrangement and care-experience, the financial support it offers, the ways in which it can support with securing accommodation, and its named contacts.
The document also contains more generic information about how students can fund their studies and key organisations that may be able to offer additional support, including Student Finance and the national charities Stand Alone and Propel.
