What’s involved?

Jess Anderson from The School of English at The University of Leeds is here to give you an insight into how to ‘Read a Comic’. What is a comic? Are they for kids or are they a serious literary form? In this twenty minute video Jess explores the ideas and themes behind certain comics, how the tackle difficult subjects and how they create meaning through narrative techniques.

In descriptive creative writing using your senses’, join Leeds Arts University’s Creative Writing BA Honours Course Leader Karen Tobias-Green and Progression Support Worker Jenny Scannell to find out more about what it is like to study Creative Writing at a specialist university. Try out our fun creative writing activity using your senses in a handmade notebook.

You’ve learnt how to read and analyse comics already. Now learn how to read a poem. Join Amina Alyal, Senior Lecturer in English at Leeds Trinity University, as you explore the poem ‘Treacle’ by Paul Farley. Also listen to some current students as they share their own work in an online Open Mic night and hear more about the department in general.
