Our virtual Business taster day consists of four online sessions which are 30-60 minutes long. The first session will be delivered by our staff and consist of an information, advice and guidance workshop covering elements such as how to apply to Higher Education and some key dates, as well as a student Q&A.

The other three sessions will involve academics from our partner institutions delivering taster sessions to allow learners to gain insight into the studying business as a degree. The taster session also involves SUMA Food’s delivering an interactive activity.

 

Session 1: General HE introduction

This broad introductory session covers everything you need to know about HE, from researching your options, applying for a course, and degrees vs. apprenticeships. Hear from current students about their HE journey and start planning your own.

 

Session 2: Academic Session

This session will allow learners to gain insight into the key components needed to become a business manager in the future. The session will provide an overview of the responsible manager, the nature of data analytics and the role of artificial intelligence.

Learning objectives

-Offer an introduction to concepts of relevance for business managers of the future

-To provide an overview of Responsible management

-To acknowledge the pervasive nature of data analytics

-To briefly explore Artificial Intelligence

 

Session 3: Careers and Employability

Get an insight into a variety of different jobs in the business sector. What do you think an accountant does in an average day? Find out in this session! Get some tips about how to stand out in the job market too.

 

Session 4: SUMA Foods

A session by SUMA foods introducing their business and how a Cooperative works. One of the employees who recently graduated from a Business MA course will lead on an enterprise challenge around developing and marketing a new product, with a focus on budgeting.
