Tracy Brabin confirmed as keynote for 2026 GHWY Teachers’ and Advisers’ Conference
Go Higher West Yorkshire (GHWY) is excited to announce that Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, has been confirmed as keynote speaker for our 2026 Teachers’ and Advisers’ Conference.
The free event will be held on Friday, 10 July at Leeds College of Building, South Bank Campus.
In her keynote, Brabin will cover skills and growth in relation to Higher Education (HE) in the region. She will draw on knowledge from her role as Chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA).
Just as GHWY represents 13 partners, Tracy represents residents of all five local authorities in West Yorkshire with responsibilities that include economic development and provision of skills training. There is a role for HE to play in upskilling local young people, making Brabin an ideal keynote speaker at a conference showcasing our HE partners.
GHWY has a longstanding relationship with WYCA, as both organisations work to ensure education and economy work locally.

Audience and previous feedback
The Conference is open to anyone who supports young people to make informed choices in West Yorkshire, although those outside of West Yorkshire are welcome to attend. This includes teachers, advisers, local authority staff, youth workers and other influencers.
Our previous Conferences have received excellent feedback for bringing together 13 partners; for its knowledgeable speakers; and its excellent organisation.
