HE providers must take positive steps to ensure disabled students receive the same services, as far as this is possible, as someone who is not disabled. 

Providers must try and remove barriers or disadvantages to disabled people and consider requests for reasonable adjustments. The Equality Act stipulates that a disabled person should never be asked to pay for the adjustments.  

Examples of reasonable adjustments include: 

• Changing the times when lectures and seminars are delivered 
• Changing the location where lectures and seminars are to be delivered so that they are fully accessible to a wheelchair user 
• Allowing more time to complete an exam or essay 
• Access to a quiet study space
